Cookie Policy
HowToFix sets a few first-party cookies on howtofix.id to keep you signed in and to run the sign-up check. The API host uses the Authorization header, not cookies.
Cookies we set
| Name | Purpose | Lifetime | Needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session cookies | Keep you signed in to the dashboard | Session or short sliding window | Yes, to sign in |
hf_google | Remembers the Gmail you confirmed with Google during sign-up | 15 minutes | Yes, to sign up |
hf_captcha | Proves you completed the human check | 10 minutes | Yes, to sign up |
hf_consent | Remembers that you dismissed the cookie notice | 1 year | No |
hf_google and hf_captcha are deleted as soon as your account is created.
The sign-up page loads Google Identity Services from accounts.google.com for the Continue with Google button. Google may set or read its own cookies when you use that button; they are governed by Google's privacy policy. No other page loads Google code.
What we do not set
No advertising cookies, no cross-site trackers, and no analytics cookies. Fonts are served from this site, not from Google Fonts.
Your choice
Pressing OK on the notice stores hf_consent. You can delete cookies in your browser at any time; you will then see the notice again and need to sign in again. See also the Privacy Policy and Terms.
